LTS Podcast and Play PD: Teaching, Uncertainty and Information Overload

Synopsis

Wednesday, June 25th, 1:00pm-2:30pm

Course Overview

A pandemic. The emergence of generative artificial intelligence. Increasing financial stressors. Rising mental health concerns. The conditions in which post-secondary students learn has changed dramatically in the last five years. As a result of these challenges, many faculty are finding that their teaching strategies that used to work no longer do. They are worried about student attendance, engagement, missing assignments, and academic integrity. In a recent podcast episode, educator and author Dave Cormier argues that sticking to traditional approaches to teaching and learning will not work, and that we need to transform our teaching in these times of uncertainty and information and technology overload.
