Interview Skills Building
Synopsis
Wednesday, July 29th, 1:30pm-3:00pmCourse Overview
The Interview Skills Building workshop is a highly interactive, 90‑minute session delivered in person or virtually (Teams) to help participants move from understanding interview strategies to confidently applying them through practice, feedback, and reflection. By the end of the session, participants are expected to deliver clear and concise responses to behavioural and situational questions, adapt answers to interviewer cues, apply feedback effectively, and identify 2–3 personal areas for continued interview development. Participants complete light pre‑work, including preparing STAR stories aligned to common competencies and bringing a real or sample job posting.
The session emphasizes psychological safety and hands‑on practice through rapid warm‑ups, peer sharing, and structured mock interviews. Core activities include paired exercises, small‑group interview rotations (candidate, interviewer, observer), targeted feedback using a STAR‑based framework, and reflection on common patterns and pitfalls such as rambling or unclear results. The workshop closes with a personal action plan to reinforce learning beyond the session. Facilitators are encouraged to keep energy high, model specific feedback, and normalize imperfect answers, with optional adaptations for virtual delivery or internal interview contexts.
