Protecting College information is essential to maintaining trust, supporting daily operations, and meeting legal and regulatory obligations.
 
As part of the implementation of AD30 – Information Classification and Handling policy, this training provides employees with the foundational knowledge and practical tools needed to classify and handle information appropriately based on its classification and risk.
 
Through a combination of curated reading, short videos, and scenario based learning activities, employees will learn how to:

• Apply a risk based approach to information classification
• Identify their roles and responsibilities in protecting College information
• Use available tools, including sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 and Adobe
• Make informed decisions to reduce the risk of unauthorized disclosure 

This training is designed to support consistent, practical application of information classification in day to day work. 

Learning Outcomes 

Upon successful completion of this training, you will be able to:  

• Identify Algonquin’s information handling roles and responsibilities,
• Describe and apply the four classification levels: Public, Internal, Confidential, and Restricted
• Assess information based on sensitivity and risk to determine the appropriate classification
• Apply the six information handling practices across the information lifecycle
• Select appropriate safeguards based on the classification level of the information
• Determine the best course of action in a variety of information handling scenarios,
• State the permissions associated with each sensitivity label classification in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat applications, and
• Apply sensitivity/classification labels in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat applications
