Synopsis
Wednesday, January 15th, 1:00pm-4:00pmCourse Overview
This introductory session will provide participants with an overview of the Finance and Administrative Services Department of Algonquin College via departmental presentations from Corporate Planning, Financial Services, Operational Accounting (AR, AP, and Treasury), Procurement, and Shipping, Receiving and Mail Services. There will also be an overview of financial reporting, the budgeting process, strategic long-term forecasting, Strategic Investment Priorities, and funding models used by the College. This interactive session is intended to provide key information to new College employees so that they understand the fundamental financial components and accounting processes of Algonquin College, and to share Finance and Administrative Services Department information to support employees in succeeding in their new roles within Algonquin College. Course instructors also welcome anyone wishing to refresh or update their core knowledge of the inside workings of Finance and Administrative Services.
- Gain insight into the business processes that support the College’s financial infrastructure requirements;
- Understand the various departmental deliverables within Finance and Administrative Services;
- Be better equipped to read the College’s financial statements;
- Feel personal ownership for internal controls;
- Explore the budget process at Algonquin College; and
- Understand the implications for individual departmental budgets.
